Daddy's Girl

Daddy's Girl is an anthem for every girl and woman who cherishes that father/daughter bond and for every woman who dreams of being the apple of her father's eye.

All of a sudden all the things I was sure of - my faith, my ability to make reasonably good choices, where I was headed in life - were all in question and I didn't know what to do. I realized in writing Save Me Again that there are so many times in life we need someone or something to save us and we're hoping it's not too late for us

Affirmations", comes in response to the overwhelming sense of hopelessness and discouragement in the world today. "Every day we are seeing young people deciding that life is not worth living. So many people are being crushed under the weight of depression, anxiety, and uncertainty and I wanted to use my voice to inject some hope into the situation," says Dana. "Affirmations" is a mix of spoken soul and velvet vocals that wrap the listener in positivity and self-care. It's like a mental vitamin to start and end your day.

"The World We Want" is a catchy tune written in the voice of a child longing to live in a world free from hate. I initially wrote this song with my then 7 yr old student, Kaile, who has a heart of gold. Kaile likes to take on projects that help the poor and encourage environmental responsibility.

As I taught the song to Kaile, she began to add some lyrics of her own, truly making it a song written in the voice of a child. Now, 4 years later, and on the heels of the mounting problem of climate change and social unrest, Kaile and I decided it was time to officially release the song- with some updates. Kaile thought it would be a great idea to add a rap to the song and I agreed. We hope the lyrics will inspire kids and adults to take action to make the world a better place for all of us - especially the very young and vulnerable.
Miscarriage is one of the most difficult losses to talk about. How do we talk about losing someone no one has ever seen? Are we still moms if our children are gone before having come into the world? Should friends and family mention the baby and the loss?

Miscarriage is one of the most difficult losses to talk about. How do we talk about losing someone no one has ever seen? Are we still moms if our children are gone before having come into the world? Should friends and family mention the baby and the loss?
I wrote this song after hearing a friend tell me about her miscarriage. Heartbroken after hearing her story, I sat at the piano and spontaneously wrote the song. It is my raw, authentic response to the devastating loss.
The theme for the song is a take on the Negro Spiritual, "Sometimes I Feel Like A Motherless CChild", which deals with the feelings of being lost in the world without a mother. My song deals with the flip side of that situation by addressing the question of what it feels like for a mother to be alone in the world without her child.
I'm intentionally releasing the song during Women's History Month in order to raise awareness of the grief so many women are experiencing.
